Randall,
normally your rants drive me crazy- but this is one area we must agree on!
I have been all over North America with the Military and yes- Ottawa drivers are the worst! (by far !!!).
now, did you know that you are 3 times more likely to die while talking on the phone and driving as drunk driving. or that you are 8 times more likely to die while texting and driving than drunk driving. as you said, it is not demonized yet. and somehow MADD still manges to kick up a storm over drunk drivers- sad thing is- most drivers that get caught are habitual. it is not you or I that have a couple of beers and drive home (possibly over he now .05 limit- which is it by the way, .08 or .05, pick one! or do what I have been saying for 30 years- make it zero. then I will not even have 2 beers and drive…).
I wish the police would step up enforcement 24/7 on these fools that talk, text, blow thru stop signs and red lights, speed (even though they have no skill- I have raced cars in the past- kinda opens your eyes- I do the speed limit at all times and fully stop at lights/signs). and fines should quardrupled, maybe that will get their attention, and while we are at it, up the demerit points and ensure that their ins. co’s find out and raise their rates.
life is definetely taken for granted in our fair city, cause everyone says “not me”.
thanks for listening.
i totally agree, young people, no driving experience, but yet the law does not apply to them, they seem to think. But their parents told them they were “special”, results: narcissism. They are “special needs,” indeed
