The Tragically Hip singer Gord Downie revealed this morning that he was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in December. “Since then, obviously, he’s endured a lot of difficult times and he has been fighting hard,“ the band said in a statement on its website about the 52-year-old Downie, who is married with four children. The band then revealed they’ll be embarking on a final tour this summer. “This feels like the right thing to do now,“ they said. “For Gord and for all of us…We’re going to dig deep and try to make this our best tour yet.“ Dates for the tour will arrive later this week.
On June 5th, CHEZ 106 will be participating in the annual Brady Wheeler Memorial charity softball tournament. In last year’s tournament, the CHEZ team lost to the Ottawa Sun team in the finals on a walk-off home run, hit by a guy wearing shades and a backward baseball cap. This year, first-time participant Amy Volume says she’s out for revenge.
Yep, that’s Jim Breuer, the comedian, who is coming out with a heavy metal album. Longtime friends with Brian Johnson, Breuer recruited him to do guest vocals on a couple of tracks. Here is one that has just been released – ‘Mr. Rock N Roll’ shows that Brian Johnson, hearing loss and all, has still got it!
