This weekend, we’ll take you back the decade before we all discovered the internet! We lost John Bonham, Bon Scott, Bob Marley and John Lennon. We worried about AIDS and lined up to see E.T., Fatal Attraction, Raiders of the Lost Arc and Back to the Future. Pac-Man led the surge towards hand-held video games. Parents fought to grab Cabbage Patch Kids for their own children and everyone tried to solve Rubik’s Cube. We wore shoulder pads, jean jackets, jumpsuits and leg warmers and some of us even sported a mullet. And then there was the music!

• It’s an 80′s weekend on CHEZ 106. We’ll have lots of great tracks from a memorable decade.
• The Best of Doc & Woody airs every Saturday Morning from 8-10. Find out what happened while Doc was away and left Eric, Randall and Woody in charge!
• On The Classics at 10am (repeats Sunday evening at 8), it’s “The Music Lives On: A Tribute to Departed Rockers”.
• The Ronnie Wood Radio Show airs at 6pm. The theme is “The Greatest Rock n’ Roll Songs of the 1960′s” with tracks from The Kingsmen, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and lots more. As usual, Ronnie has some great stories to tell including one about The Who in the early days.
• Sunday Morning, it’s the best of the 60′s and 70′s on Psychedelic CHEZ with Steve Colwill.
• On The Bluesmobile (Sunday at 6pm), Elwood looks at some of the biggest summer Blues festivals in North America and around the world.
• Legends of Classic Rock (7pm) features “Guitarists Under The Influence of Jimi Hendrix”
• The Classics runs at 10am (and repeats Sunday evening at 8). On this week’s show,  it’s “The Music Lives On: A Tribute to Departed Rockers”

This week’s Bonehead of the Week comes to us from the UK, where Emma Way bragged about running down a cyclist. On Twitter! Her tweet garnered a lot of attention, including police attention (see above). The cyclist, who had not reported the incident and didn’t plan to press charges, changed his mind once HE saw the tweet. Miss Way has since deleted her Twitter account, but not before people took a bunch of screen grabs of her tweets – including one that showed her driving with her speedometer at 95 miles per hour!

Drummer for Metallica has described the new movie as “The Wall meets Song Remains the Same.” The concert footage was shot in Vancouver last year. Look for it in theatres this Fall.

Look for Ottawa locals to be featured on July 22nd when Springsteen’s new movie debuts.

Japanese-language short has been posted to YouTube under the auspices of his regular online Roth Show and the file is called DLRmovietrailer, but it’s not clear whether there’s a longer version in production.

Roth is currently living in Tokyo part time and dating a woman from there.

                Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to movies with The Last Stand, out May 21^st from E One Films. Well, that is if you don’t count his bit parts in the Expendables movies. And I don’t. But it makes me wonder. At one time, Arnold was the biggest, most muscular man in the world, who just happened to be a passable enough actor that he could become a superstar.

                Now that he has spent two terms as governor of California and has become a 65-year-old man, the muscles just aren’t there any more. Which is fine, but that leaves him with little to offer aside from a name. He remains just a passable actor, but now one who isn’t going to lift cars or throw motorcycles or take off his shirt. In The Last Stand, he plays the aging sheriff of a border town in Arizona who decides to take a stand with his deputies against a drug lord making a run for the border with his army of loyal soldiers. The drug lord is some kind of superhuman badass, killing people with ease and driving like the greatest stunt driver of all time as he makes his run. His army is just that – an actual army, armed to the teeth with machine guns and rocket launchers. And Arnold has only himself, Luis Guzman, a no-name girl and Johnny Knoxville with which to defend his town.

                What follows is ludicrous nonsense. Of course, the car left in a fire zone by the small-town jerk gets wrecked in the big finale. Of course, there is a little old lady who shoots a bad guy, and of course there are some painful one-liners. But here’s the thing – it’s FUN. It’s a lot of fun. It’s a throwback to the movies of Arnold’s youth, a Rio Bravo for today’s action movie fan. And with a supporting cast that includes Peter Stormare, Forest Whitaker and Luis Guzman, it actually works. One might say The Last Stand pulls a Homer, in that it succeeds despite idiocy.

                Come Undone is a gay movie from 2000 that has managed to receive just enough of an underground following to warrant a DVD release now, May 21^st from First Run Features. A low-budget movie about a romance between two teen boys in a French village, it (sort of) works.

                The part of the movie that works is the sexual awakening of Mathieu, as he comes to accept that he is gay when he meets Cedric. Their involvement with each other goes beyond just an infatuation, and becomes something much more intense and, well, graphic. From there, though, a lot of it is disjointed and frustrating. Mathieu falls into a severe depression, and although he’s struggling with his sexuality, and he has a sick mom and a father who has left, there doesn’t really seem to be a good reason for him to become suicidal. This isn’t the only confusing part of the movie. When Mathieu pushes Cedric away, I’m left to wonder. Is it because Cedric doesn’t care about architecture the way Mathieu does and prefers sex? That seems to be the only scene in the movie that really led to any tension between the two.

                The movie is French, and in French the title is not Come Undone, it’s Presque Rien, which means Almost Nothing. That’s a more accurate title for the movie. What makes Mathieu back away from his relationship with Cedric? Almost nothing. What makes him suicidally depressed? Almost nothing. And what happens for the bulk of the movie? Almost nothing.
