Rush’s Geddy Lee has accompanied his new memoir, “My ‘Effin Life,” with some new music. In conjunction with the book’s Nov. 14 publication, lee released two demos — “Gone” and “I Am…You Are” — that were intended for his 2000 solo album “My Favorite Headache.” The songs are featured on the audiobook version of the memoir and are headed to streaming services as well.

Lee tells us that he discovered the demos over the course of writing the book and brought them to his friend, producer David Bottrell, who did some work to enhance them to a point Lee felt was good enough to release.

“We got them to a place where they sounded great to me and they made me want to write songs again and get back into music. So I decided I’m going to release them as ‘the lost demos’ so there’s no mistake. It’s not a new project. And I’m going to put them on my audio book so fans can listen to them there.”

“My Effin’ Life” is Lee’s second book, following “Geddy Lee’s Big Beautiful Book of Bass” in 2018.

Lee is currently on a speaking tour, each night featuring a guest celebrity, readings from the book and audience Q&A. $1 from each ticket purchased to the shows will go to the Neil Peart Memorial At Lakeside Park fund honouring Rush’s late drummer, who died on January 7th, 2020 at the age of 67 from grain cancer.

In addition to the tour and book Lee is launching a four-part docuseries “Geddy Lee Asks: Are Bass Players Human Too?,” which premieres December 5th on Paramount Plus and features episodes with Les Claypool of Primus, Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo and Melissa Auf der Maur of Hole and Smashing Pumpkins.
