sticky fingers

When the Rolling Stones announced a return to North America this summer, it was revealed that the band intended to re-release the album “Sticky Fingers”. We’ve also heard rumours that the plan was the play the album in it’s entirety during live shows, and that former Stone Mick Taylor would be a special guest on the road. Then there are the rumours that Keith Richards is preparing a new album and wants to hit the road later this year.

That North American tour only includes one Canadian date, July 15th at Le Festival d’ete de Quebec in Quebec City. The Stones will be back in North America in time for the first show on May 24.

The band were planning to re-release their classic 1971 album “Sticky Fingers” as the tour started, but rumours that they may feature the entire album at each show may not be true. The Stones haven’t yet decided how much of the album they will use.

The story that former band member Mick Taylor (second guitarist and a key part of “Sticky Fingers”) will be touring with them is apparently not true. There are no plans for Taylor to join them on the road. So far.

Meanwhile, the band was forced to delay the reissue of “Sticky Fingers”, thanks to a wardrobe malfunction. The famous cover of the early issues of the album came with a working zipper, and some new formats were to have the same feature. Thanks to delays in producing the hand-made zipper, Universal music decided to scrub the the original issue date of May 26 so they could release all formats together on June 9. The remastered “Sticky Fingers” will be available as a CD, 2-CD, LP, 2-LP, Deluxe Edition Box set, Super Deluxe Edition Box set and via digital download.

Keith Richards recently reported that he has a new album ready to go, but no title or release date yet. He’s hoping to have it out later this year, and would like to play some solo live shows if it fits in with future tour plans for the Rolling Stones.
